Personal Protective Equipment
What we supply
Protection matched to the actual hazard.
Refractory work exposes workers to airborne fibers, silica dust, molten metal splash, radiant heat, extreme contact temperatures, and heavy material handling. Generic construction safety equipment is often insufficient. We stock PPE selected specifically for industrial refractory and high-temperature environments.
Respiratory Protection
Half-face and full-face respirators with P100 and combination cartridges for RCF, silica dust, and chemical vapors. PAPR systems for sustained high-exposure tasks. Disposable N95/N100 for lighter-duty exposure.
High-Temperature Gloves
Aluminized and carbon-fiber gloves for radiant heat and contact temperature. Leather palm for abrasion from brick and castable handling. Elbow-length protection for furnace entry and hot repair work.
Heat-Resistant Clothing
Aluminized jackets, aprons, leggings, and full suits for open furnace work and tapping operations. Nomex and PBI fiber garments for general high-temp environments. Arc flash and flash fire rated garments available.
Head & Face Protection
Heat-shielded hard hats for high-temperature environments. Full-face shields for hot repair and tapping. Welding hoods with auto-darkening lenses for anchor welding. Balaclava liners for radiant heat protection of face and neck.
Eye Protection
Splash-rated safety glasses for castable work. Indirect-vent chemical goggles for mixing. Shade 2–5 face shields for furnace observation and hot work. All ANSI Z87.1 rated.
Foot Protection
Metatarsal guard boots for brick and castable handling. Heat-resistant boot covers for furnace entry. Spat-type protection for tapping environments. ASTM F2413 compliant.
Fall Protection
Self-retracting lifelines, full-body harnesses, and anchor hardware for elevated furnace structures, scaffolding, and vessel interiors. ANSI/ASSP Z359 compliant. Confined space rescue equipment available.
Hearing Protection
Disposable foam plugs and ear muffs for grinding, breaking, and gunning operations. NRR-rated for high-noise environments. Communication headsets for areas requiring voice contact.
Outfitting a crew? We put together complete PPE packages.
Tell us your crew size, scope of work — installation, repair, or demolition — and any existing safety program requirements. We'll assemble a compliant, practical package for refractory-specific hazards that a general safety catalog won't address correctly.

Ceramic fiber PPE requirements
RCF installation and removal requires specific protection beyond general dust control.
- P100 minimum; full-face respirator recommended for removal of aged fiber
- Goggles or indirect-vent eye protection — fiber causes mechanical eye irritation
- Long sleeves and full-length pants; loose-fitting disposable coveralls recommended
- Shower and change clothing before leaving the work area
- Wet-down fiber before removal to minimize airborne concentration
Silica exposure (OSHA 1910.1053)
Crystalline silica in fireclay brick and castable is heavily regulated. Cutting and grinding generate concentrations that require active management.
- Dry cutting or grinding: P100 respirator required, wet methods strongly preferred
- Written exposure control plan required when action level is exceeded
- Medical surveillance required at or above the OSHA action level
- Wet methods at the point of cut are the most effective dust control measure
- Housekeeping: vacuum or wet sweep — never dry sweep silica dust
